What better way to celebrate than with a sweet craft that’s just as fun as it is adorable? These Felt Donut Keychains are the perfect bite-sized project for kids, crafters, and felt lovers alike. Whether you’re making one for yourself, gifting to a friend, or adding a pop of fun to your market booth—this tutorial is for you!

Let’s Make It: Step-by-Step

1. Cut Your Donut Base and Icing

Start by die-cutting or hand-cutting a 3-inch felt circle in your desired donut color—classic tan, chocolate brown, or even pastel pink! Cut a fun, wavy icing shape out of glitter felt that fits on top of your donut. Be creative! This is where the personality shines.

2. Make Your Donut Shape

 Then, carefully cut a small circle in the center of both your donut base and icing to create that iconic donut-hole look. We ended up making it a bit bigger than we drew it first!

3. Glue the Icing in Place

Use a small amount of hot glue to secure your icing piece onto the top of your donut base. Press gently and let dry.

4. Sprinkle on the Fun

Cut tiny sprinkle shapes from your glitter or regular felt scraps. We used hot pink glitter felt for a fun pop! Attach them all over the icing with dabs of hot glue.

5. Ribbon Flair

Cut three 7-inch pieces of 3/8" ribbon in coordinating colors and tie them around the keychain hardware. This adds a fun, colorful flair to your finished piece!

6. Attach the Keychain

Flip your donut over and attach the keychain hardware to the top using hot glue. For a polished finish, glue a small scrap of felt (matching your donut color) over the hardware on the back. It adds stability and a clean look.
