Mini Felt Christmas Tree Tutorial
'Tis the season for crafting! This week, we have an adorable mini tabletop felt Christmas tree for you to customize and decorate! We'll walk you through step-by-step how to create your tree perfect for any table, mantel, or nook that needs a bit of festive flair!

Gather all your supplies and a hot cup of cocoa and let's get crafting!
You will need:
2 sheets of Evergreen or your favorite color Wool Blend Felt 18"x12"
1 sheet White wool blend felt 6x12"
glitter felt in various colors
12" wooden crafting dowel
Polyfil stuffing
extra 6x6" piece or larger of wool blend felt in your choice of color (for the base)
FREE SVG tree pattern download
velvet or grosgrain ribbon for bows
hot glue gun & fabric scissors

Start by downloading your FREE SVG file and either printing and cutting out your pattern pieces for easy tracing or loading your file into Cricut for easy cutting.
Once you have your pieces cut, you will want to start by building your base cone. This can be built out of your white felt (or any color as you wont see it with the finished tree). Roll the ends together and glue the side seam shut to create a cone. Then glue your wooden dowel into the center of the cone (You can also do this at the end if you find it easier to wrap your tree pieces around the cone without the dowel in the way). We also filled our cone with a bit of poly stuffing to help keep the dowel stable inside the middle of the cone.

Next you will want to create your ornaments and glue those on to your tree pieces. We used glitter felt and a 1/2” fabric/paper punch to create perfect circle ornaments. You could also cut these by hand or use a Cricut.
Then starting with your top tree piece, wrap it around the top of the cone and hot glue the seam shut. For this piece, we also added glue to the top of the cone and pressed the top of the evergreen felt down onto the glue to make a slightly rounded top that is secured tightly to the cone.

Then repeat with the middle tree piece, making sure back seams line up and that the top tree piece is overlapping the middle tree piece a bit so that you don’t see any of the cone.

Continue and finish with the bottom widest tree piece.
Your pieces should wrap tight enough around the cone that they don’t slip off, but you can also use some hot glue to glue them in place on the cone as well.
If you haven't added your wooden dowel yet, glue that now into the center of the cone and add your stuffing.

Finally to create the base, we used a small piece of a floral block to stick the wooden dowel into so that the tree stands up on its own.

Then take a square piece of extra felt and wrap it up and around the block and tie it tight to the block with a piece of ribbon so that it looks like a Santa bag or present wrapped up around the tree. You can use some hot glue here to help secure this together as well.
And finally, add a tree topper! You could create a glitter felt star, a velvet bow, or maybe even add a pom pom! It’s up to you to let your creativity shine!
