Star Pebbled Leather Sunglasses Holder
A tiny star with a very useful job. This DIY pebbled leather sunglasses holder clips right onto a purse charm, key ring, or bag strap so your sunnies have a designated landing spot instead of floating around the bottom of your bag with the receipts and rogue lip balm.
What You’ll Need
Pebbled leather or faux leather
Star shape template
Scissors or a cutting machine
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Small strip of leather for the hanging loop
Purse charm hardware, key ring, or clasp
Craft knife or sharp scissors
Pencil or fabric marker
Step 1: Cut Your Star Pieces
Cut two matching star shapes from your pebbled leather. You can use a cutting machine for crisp edges, but a printed star template and sharp scissors work just as well. A slightly oversized star works best so it has enough room to hold your sunglasses comfortably.
Step 2: Cut the Sunglasses Slits
On the front star piece, mark two short horizontal slits near the center. These are where the arms of your sunglasses will slide through.
Use a craft knife or very sharp scissors to carefully cut the slits. Test them with your sunglasses before sewing everything together. You want the openings to be snug enough to hold the glasses in place, but not so tight that they are difficult to slide through.
Step 3: Add the Hanging Loop
Cut a small strip of matching leather and fold it into a loop. Place the raw ends between the two star pieces at the top point of the star, with the loop facing outward.
This little loop is what lets the holder hang from purse charm hardware, a key ring, or your favorite bag accessory setup.
Step 4: Sew the Star Together
Place the back star behind the front star, making sure the hanging loop is tucked securely between the layers. Sew around the outer edge of the star, leaving a small seam allowance.
Backstitch at the top where the loop is attached for extra security. Your sunglasses holder is now ready for its starring role.
Step 5: Attach and Style
Clip your star holder onto your purse charm hardware, then slide the arms of your sunglasses through the two front slits.
Make a few in different colors to match your bags, or personalize them with a tiny initial, a heart-shaped patch, or contrast stitching.
