Strawberry Bag Tutorial
It’s summer time and there is nothing better than enjoying a fresh summer strawberry! We decided to get crafty with strawberries this week and made a sparkly bag that girls will adore! It’s the perfect one hour craft that is easy for all levels of crafters! Let’s dive into this bright, juicy creation together—step by step and make something magical!
🛒 1. Gather Your Supplies
First you will need to gather your supplies. You will need:
-
2 sheets of glitter felt – we chose Rainbow Coral and Blue Lagoon glitter felt, you will need one sheet of each
-
1 sheet of 18”×12” felt (we chose Cranberry)
-
3–4 feet of cord, we chose an off white ½” thick cotton cord
-
A hot glue gun & glue
-
Optional: Sewing machine
✂️ 2. Prep Your SVG & Felt Pieces
To start, download your FREE SVG file and print and cut to trace or set it up to work with your cutting machine.
Cut the stem pieces out of your Blue Lagoon felt. You will want to mirror one side of your stem so that they will match up with the glitter facing out on both sides of the bag.
Next, cut your inner strawberry pieces out of the Rainbow Coral Glitter also mirroring one side. Finally, cut the outer strawberry pieces with the seed holes out of your cranberry felt. Because this felt looks the same on both sides, you will not have to mirror one side when cutting.
In addition, you will need to cut two tabs out of the Cranberry felt, each measuring 1.5”×¾”.
🪡 3. Assemble Each Strawberry Side
Next we need to assemble each side. Layer your cranberry felt strawberry piece on top of the rainbow coral piece, glitter side facing up so that it is visible through the seed holes. Glue the piece in place avoiding the edges if you plan to use a sewing machine to sew the bag together. If you plan to glue your bag sides together then glue all the way to the edges.
Then line up your strawberry stem and glue this in place. Repeat with the other side.
👛 4. Create the Bag Body
Next, line up your two sides on top of each other, seed and glitter sides facing out. If you have sewing clips, these are also great to hold your two sides together as you glue or sew. You will also now need to fold each tab in half so they are ¾”×¾”. Slide these tabs in between the bag layers on each side towards the top.
🧵 5. Sew or Glue the Sides
If you are using a sewing machine, choose a coordinating thread and begin to sew all the way around the strawberry, about ⅛” from the edge, leaving an opening at the top of the bag. Our opening is about 5” wide.
If you are using hot glue, go around and glue the two side of the bag together as well as the tabs also leaving the 5” opening at the top.
🎀 6. Add Your Cord Strap
Finally, you will need to add your strap. Measure how long you would like your strap to be a cut a piece. It helps to wrap each end of the strap with tape that you will later cut off. This allows you to easily thread your straps through the looped tabs. Once through, tie a knot at each end and cut off the tape. Fray out the end of the cord for a cute finish and your bag is ready to use!

Isn’t it the cutest little bag ever? Sparkly, summery, and totally YOU-made. Whether you sew or glue, this project packs big style in a small package—ready to show off or gift!
