Wickedly Magical Doll Dress Tutorial

Everyone's favorite new movie release is coming up quick and we are having fun getting crafty with magical doll tutorials! If you've already made your dolls (if not, check out our tutorial here!), it's now time to accessorize! Follow along with our quick and easy dress tutorial and you'll be feeling magical yourself having created something so enchanting! And did we mention it comes with a FREE SVG pattern for the dress? Do a little happy dance and let's get started!

You will need:

2 sheets of our brand new printed glitter felt: Magical Friends Tie-Dye

Our FREE SVG download for the dress pattern

1/2" wide velcro (we used self adhesive velcro)

Optional add-on is pink sparkle tulle for over the skirt and at the shoulders.

First, download your SVG and either print, trace, and cut or use a Cricut(or similar) machine to cut out your pattern pieces.

Let's start with the skirt! If you are using the tulle, you will want to cut a double layered piece, roughly 5"x12" so that it is a little longer and wider than the under skirt. You will then fold small pleats into the tulle at the top on the long side so that when it is done, it matches the width of the waist side of the printed glitter felt skirt. You can either sew or glue your pleats down as you go and then again either sew or glue it to the waist of the skirt. Use caution if gluing, the hot glue will go through the tulle and be hot so it can be helpful to use a small rubber spatula to press the tulle down rather than your fingers.

Then cut a piece of your velcro to match the length of the skirt and add that to the back so that you can close the skirt onto the doll.

Next we will build the bodice. Start by gluing your shoulder seams from both back pieces to the front piece with the straight sides in the middle. We glued the front sides over the top of the back sides for a cleaner look from the front.

Then find your underarm seam on each side and glue those together as well.

If you are adding tulle shoulders, cut two double layered pieces, 1" tall by 4" wide and pleat these the same way you pleated the skirt. Then using hot glue, carefully adhere these into the top of each shoulder on the edge of the glitter felt.

Finally, our last step is to add velcro the length of the back opening.

And that's it! Your new magical doll is ready for play!
